about

what we’re about

anticop is an educational resource for countering the police. Whether you've been searched for drugs, you're organising a rally, or you’re engaged in direct action, we’ve got you covered.

Wherever we’re on the streets fighting for a better world, the police are there to shut us down. With increasingly sophisticated weapons and tactics, the police smooth the way for climate destruction, economic inequality, war and genocide in Gaza and elsewhere. But we can beat them.

anticop is for environmentalists, unionists, civil libertarians, anti-racists, anti-war activists, feminists and queer activists. We share a struggle, and an enemy.

But we’re not just for activists, as we ALL deal with police in our day-to-day lives, e.g. drug policing, traffic stops, domestic violence, and interrogations.

We educate the public about police violence, corruption, and ineffectiveness. We produce articles, leaflets, infographics, videos and other resources to help your campaigns for police reform or abolition. We can also assist with training and workshops for activists.

We are unashamedly opposed to the police. While we wear our bias on our sleeve, we aim to provide accurate and rigorously sourced information.

If you want to contact anticop, please email us at anticopadmin@proton.me

  • A: Share our content on social media, print and distribute flyers, like and subscribe to our YouTube channel. You can join our Patreon, or make a one-time donation.

All donations go directly towards the cost of running anticop e.g. equipment, maintaining the website, printing etc.

  • A: Unfortunately, donations towards anticop are not tax deductible.

Running anticop as a charity with ‘Deductible Gift Recipient’ status would not be viable, as Australian law would place restrictions on our advocacy and campaigning activities.

  • It’s not our role to share “both sides”. We are openly critical of police and provide resources for activists and others who are victimised by police. We want those resources to be as accurate as possible to aid activists, so everything we put out is thoroughly researched, with references so you can check our work and learn more.

  • A: anticop is a resource for countering the police. We aim to enhance the organising of other groups, not replace them.

There are many groups with radical politics whose work crosses over into policing - queer rights, Aboriginal deaths in custody, environmental activism etc.

When it comes to focusing directly on the police, most community legal centres, political parties, academics, civil libertarians etc. are focused on reform, but anticop is explicitly abolitionist.

While there are some reforms that could help, ultimately police are a repressive force that will always serve the interests of capital and the state. Anticop is focused on countering the police, and ultimately dismantling the institution.

If you come to anticop to read about your rights with police, it doesn’t stop there - you’ll have access to history and analysis to deepen your understanding of policing.

  • A: Anticop is a work-in-progress with new articles being added all the time. If you want help finding information elsewhere, email us at anticopadmin@proton.me, or if you want to suggest future content you can subscribe to our Patreon.

  • A: No. We are concerned about AI "hallucinating" (aka making up facts), and want to ensure that the information we provide is well sourced and accurate.

We don't fully know the data that each LLM is trained on, but if they're accessing most information on the internet, they’ll end up biased toward the police. Information published by the police themselves, corporate media, and weapon manufacturers, needs to be treated with a critical eye. So we write things the old fashioned way ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
